Gathering more than 800 books and 75 folders of local research literature, the PMA’s library represents a unique collection of resources. Alongside traditional materials about Highland history, the PMA community library collects and makes available publications that reflect the social history and culture of Helmsdale, the surrounding areas, and its people: past and present

Thanks to the dedication of the PMA volunteers, the community library catalogue and a handmade tweed bookmark or keyring have already been distributed to more than 200 households in Kildonan and Loth just before Christmas.

To make the library more accessible to the most remote areas and less mobile and vulnerable community members, the PMA has developed an option for mobile collection and house delivery too. Users can fill out one of the library loaning slips which came with their community library catalogue: including their book choices and delivery preferences. Return the loaning slips to Timespan through the PMA yellow post box (at the top of the brae fixed to the Timespan wall) hand it in at our reception, or post it to Timespan.
If you’re over 65 and live in Kildonan and Loth, and haven’t received a copy of our library catalogue, please get in touch or stop by Timespan and we’ll arrange it.
Opening Hours:
Tuesdays 14:00-16:00, Saturdays 10:00-12:00, and Sundays 13:00-15:00. By Appointment
