The People’s Mobile Archive (PMA) is a community well-being heritage initiative, co-produced and led by local volunteers. Informed by community consultations, the PMA addresses the social necessities of our elder and most vulnerable community members facing the daily struggles of living in rural and remote locations in Sutherland. In response to these social needs, the PMA built a rich programme of initiatives that aim to bring the local heritage and Timespan collections directly into over 300 homes in Kildonan and Loth and to make these resources available to visitors and researchers in our public archive.

Timespan recognises that the people in our constituents hold a wealth of knowledge, memories and experiences and the PMA has enabled us to share these within our community and record them for future generations.
The PMA resources include:
- Community Heritage Lending Library
- Archival Community Film Shows
- Local Heritage Activity Packs
- Oral History Audio Collection
- Community Songbook
- Family History Resources
We’re very fortunate to be supported by Helmsdale Resilience Group who have kept our vulnerable and isolated constituents connected and safe during lockdown.
