Gallery

Timespan actively promotes and supports the presentation and production of contemporary art in Scotland’s Far North through a programme of exhibitions, artist residencies, commissioned projects, events and workshops.

Our gallery is central to this programme with five exhibitions annually, including solo presentations and curated group exhibitions and one annual exhibition specifically for an artist/artists working regionally. Exhibitions present both new and existing work by artists working nationally and internationally.

We host three artist residencies each year – one socially-engaged residency, a Graduate Fellowship supporting early-career artists and an intensive group residency that supports research and development within a discursive cross-disciplinary setting. Each year we commission one event-based public artwork that takes place outwith our building as well as commissioning new work for our gallery programme. In addition to these core programme elements, we organise a range of events, film screenings, workshops, and talks.
