The In-Between Film Festival

Join us Saturday February 22nd from 6.30-8.30pm for “The In Between Film Festival.”
The screening will include three short films ‘TEND’, ‘THE FAR OGHAM’ and ‘PLIGHTING THE ORD AN LUIRG’ created as part of the Poetic Film School initiative supporting local filmmakers in training sessions at Timespan, Lairg & District Learning Centre and Strathnaver Museum.
The films explore local stories, such as that of the nurse Ishbel Macrae (Macleod), and showcase the work of brilliant filmmakers part of our community.
TEND – is a short film about district nurse Ishbel Macrae (Macleod). Ishbel, known as the ‘District Nurse from Helmsdale,’ resided in Torrish in the Strath of Kildonan. She was a well-known presence in the villages, roads, and hills, providing healthcare to patients in their homes. This new short film accompanied with music by Konstantin Trokay, is a poetic exploration of the idea of ‘tending’ experienced by caregivers like Ishbel. (Timespan)
THE FAR OGHAM – explores the mythology of the Picts. It features poetry and narration by Caithness Bard and playwright George Gunn, accompanied by music from Bing Satellites.(Lairg & District Learning Centre)
PLIGHTING THE ORD AN LUIRG – is a journey through time at Lairg Ord Hill where Bronze Age burials and radio transmitters coexist, reminding us of the fragility of being tethered to the land. (Strathnaver Museum)
