You are invited to our Peat Party! Let’s celebrate our Peat Bogs!

We will explore what we find in peat bogs – the artifacts ancient peoples have buried or left behind, like swords, jewellery and tools, and make some of our own precious bog objects too.

And we will create imaginative poems and songs celebrating our peatland places. Odes to the plants and animals that live in, and depend on, our peat bog eco-systems.

Our Peat Party will be hosted by bog-poet and researcher, Ali Graham. Undertaking a practice-based PhD at the University of Edinburgh, their research focuses on peat bogs in Scotland and on queer and disabled people’s lived experiences. They are interested in poetry’s capacity to unfurl play, complexity, mess, and beauty, and as a space for marginalised people to voice their experiences.
