We are excited to invite you to Local Heroes of the Land Reform Movement, a day of events on Saturday, 28th June from 11am to 3:30pm, featuring two talks and a minibus guided tour of the Land League historic sites.

11am-1pm
Talks about the Highland Land League
Join retired journalist Audrey Munro and local historian Esther Macdonald as they present a talk about the people, events, and legacy of the Highland Land League crofters’ movement in Kildonan and Loth. Audrey will speak on her great-grandfather, Donald Watson, Angus Sutherland, the first Member of Parliament for Sutherlandshire, and his successor, John MacLeod MP, from Gartymore. Esther will share her extensive knowledge of the local land leaguers, their crofting background, the places where they lived and were laid to rest, stories, and memories.

1pm-2pm
Break for Light Lunch
A light buffet with refreshments will be served. Pay what you can, with a suggested price of £5 per person. Meet and mingle with the speakers and the attendees.

2pm-3:30pm
Minibus Tour of Land League Historic Sites
Join us after lunch for a minibus tour of Gartymore and West Helmsdale, visiting the home of some local land leaguers and the Land League Cairn constructed on the croft of John Fraser, a leading light of the Land Reform Movement.
