Held on the High Wire
Friday 25 October 2024
Doors at 7 pm
We are thrilled to announce that as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, the touring performance Held on the High Wire comes to Timespan on October 25th from 7 pm.
Join us for a spellbinding multimedia performance by Jenny Qaqundah, a Palestinian-born artist and disability activist, and Myshkin Warbler, an international composer, musician, and multimedia artist.
Held on the High Wire tells the story of Jenny’s near-death experience, sepsis survival, and new life on metal legs merging her vulnerable memoir with Myshkin’s folk and jazz music composed during Jenny’s coma and recovery to channel her community’s potent energies toward her healing.
The 90-minute performance explores sudden disability, resilience, chosen families, love and transformation.
Held on the High Wire performance draws from Jenny’s book “Held Together” and Myshkin’s album “Trust and the High Wire.”
Myshkin is a giant among songwriters. Well observed, unflinching, tender, bitterly funny
songs. —City Life, Manchester, UK
Jenny’s book is an impressive feat of collaborative non-fiction that takes risks with an
experimental style and format to tell an amazing story. — Love Bytes, USA
We cannot wait to welcome you!
