The Dreaming Bog, CURSE o'the MYRE, TEND

We are excited to restart our Community Cinema programme on Sat 4th April, from 11.00 am to 1pm with three exciting short films

We will premiere ‘CURSE o’the MYRE’ to Sutherland audiences, followed by a Q&A with the Director, Robert Aitken and Co-Producer, Michael G. Clark. The film will also be shown along with ‘The Dreaming’ and ‘TEND’.

CURSE o’the MYRE 35 min
For centuries, a Spirit Guard is eternally bound to her crumbling Castle in the Scottish Highlands, and the misty Myres abound, endlessly reliving the tragedy of a clan’s brigade march to war and the death of her beloved William. Her loss spurred a grief that defied time, absorbed and unleashed into the great peatbogs of Caithness, her haunts are said to enrage at both the harm we cause each other and the earth

The Dreaming Bog 40 min
The Dreaming Bog is an ecopoetic film on Climate Change told through the history and mythology of the Peatbogs of Northern Scotland and the Mires of Finland – an exploration of the punishment and preservation by humankind on these vulnerable landscapes

TEND 15 min

District Nurses were a common sight in the villages, roads, and straths in the far North of Scotland in years gone by. Ishbel Macrae lived for many years in Torrish and was known as the District nurse from Helmsdale. TEND is an intimate portrait of one person’s life caring for the sick and poor, and how her legacy inspires a community to nurture each other today

As always all our screenings are free.
