About Baile/Baile
Baile/Baile is a Highland party founded by Sigi Whittle and Jemima Fasakin. Emerging from club nights in Ullapool, they have brought artists and DJs from across Scotland to the Highlands.
Their programme champions Highland talent and promotes Gaelic language and culture through events in the Highlands, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Each event evolves, with a consistent commitment to collective and accessible club culture.
About the exhibition
As Long As It Yields is the first solo exhibition in Scotland by Venezuelan artist José García Oliva.
The exhibition presents a new body of work examining agricultural and labour extraction systems sustained by overseas seasonal worker schemes and land exploitation, operating within structures of deferred responsibility.
This framework is set in contrast to romanticised notions of the rural landscape as pastoral abundance. The work emerges from conversations, gatherings and drawings developed in collaboration with agricultural workers supported by the Worker Support Centre and the Justice Is Not Seasonal campaign.
