Duncan, Iain and Mary MacGillivray
11 October – 11 November
11 October, 6pm: Private view with life performance by Duncan MacGillivray
In conjunction with The Big Lament Timespan presented a modern interpretation of Pibroch recorded by Duncan, Iain and Mary MacGillivray in Timespan’s gallery. A Pibroch is commonly heard in a Scottish public outdoor setting, played by a bagpipe. Listening to a Pibroch as a multi-instrumental tune in the Gallery is a different experience and is not to be missed.
Ross-shire based piper Duncan has achieved the top award in Piping in 1997 when he won the Gold Medal at the Northern Meeting in Inverness. He is a member of ‘The Ghillies’, a group brought together to showcase new tunes written in a traditional style by musicians from all over Scotland. Iain and Mary are experienced young traditional musicians who have been playing at traditional music festivals in County Clare and County Kerry this summer.
The new sound installation were launched on Friday the 11th of October at 6pm.
