Disarming Design From Palestine

Disarming Design from Palestine (DDfP) is an independent non-profit organisation operating as a design label and learning platform. During the exhibition, they will stock Timespan’s Shop with a selection of Bird Plates, designed by Maher Shaheen, and State of Palestine magnets designed by exhibited artist Khaled Jarrar. The hand-painted ceramic Bird Plates are object of care meant to be used to share food and leftover with birds. The object draws attention to the global crisis of food scarcity and food waste, asking us to be as generous as nature.

The State of Palestine magnets are based on Khaled’s State of Palestine passport stamp. This declares the existence of a non-existent state, while telling the story of a state-to-be. Both objects were produced in Hebron, known for the rich heritage of ceramics and birds – the region is one of the major migration routes for many bird species worldwide.
