Song of the Sea 1

Song of the Sea
dir. Tomm Moore

Showing at Timespan, Sunday 19 June 2016, 14:00

Song of the Sea is a gorgeous, animated retelling of Irish selkie myths that has enthralled children and adults alike.

10-year-old Ben can’t help but resent little sister Saoirse when their mother mysteriously disappears after she is born. But when Ben discovers Saoirse is actually a selkie – and her life is in danger from Macha the Owl Witch – he finds himself in a race against time to set aside his broken heart and bring their family together again. A rhapsodic, magical-realist celebration of folk tale, imagery and the importance of passing on tradition.

Song of the Sea is shown in parallel to our current exhibition of work by Icelandic design collective Vík Prjónsdóttir and the screening is free to attend.
